 Job Title:   Volunteer Coordinator/Donor Recognition Coordinator

 Location:   3737 O'Meara Dr., Houston, TX

 Reports To:   Development Director

 Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm (nights/w/e required for special events)

 Classification: Full-time Regular, Hourly, Non-Exempt

 Salary:   $13-$14 per hour 

 Start Date:   Immediate

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides educational services to individuals with autism, a day habilitation program for young adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities and three residential homes for adults unable to live in their own home. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976.

The Volunteer Coordinator/Donor Recognition Coordinator position will support the Development Director and Development Coordinator with the marketing and development efforts of the agency. This position has a heavy emphasis in volunteer coordination and donor recognition.

Job Duties: 

  • Processes donations and prepares acknowledgements and thank you letters.
  • Enters, updates, and maintains donor database.
  • Prepares reports on donors and funding provided to agency.
  • Promotes the Avondale House Volunteer Program and recruits volunteers from the community.
  • Screens, interviews, and provides orientation and training for volunteer program.
  • Maintains database of volunteers, tracking activities and hours.
  • Assists with the design and creation of programs, flyers, and print materials as needed.
  • Attends fairs and school district events to promote agency and volunteer program.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of special events including fundraising, agency parties, donor recognition events, Autism Awareness Month, and other related events.
  • Liaison to Friends of Avondale House.
  • Writes articles on current events for monthly newsletter.
  • Provides agency receptionist relief during lunch hours, vacations, and other times as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Database management experience required, donor database management experience a plus.
  • Experience coordinating volunteer programs required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail is critical to the position.
