Hours:  2pm-10:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday, flexibility required, must be available nights/weekends/on call

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides, educational services to individuals with autism, a day habilitation program for adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities and three residential homes for individuals unable to live in their own home.  Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976. Job Duties:

  • Develops and manages Residential program, offering choice and creative activities in a positive residential environment.
  • Schedules and ensures completion of evening and weekend recreation activities for each residence.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly recreation calendar.
  • Ensures each individual participates in community-based instruction (CBI), including grocery and supply shopping and other recreational outings.
  • Coordinates volunteer involvement in residential activities, including but not limited to recruiting, securing paperwork, and scheduling.
  • Supervises and trains new and existing staff on proper process and procedures within the residential program.
  • Manages ongoing staff scheduling and staffing issues as they arise.
  • Ensures sufficient food is in each residence to enable staff to follow designated menus and for emergency preparedness and ensuring sufficient cleaning supplies are available in each residence to enable proper cleaning.
  • Prepares weekly grocery and supply shopping list in conjunction with residential support staff, for each residence.
  • Secures approval for and orders needed supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness of all Avondale House residences by performing weekly or more, planned and unplanned visits of each residential home, following up with appropriate staff when deficiencies are noted.
  • Supervises implementation of IEP/IPP goals and objectives including reviewing data collected, conducting training as needed, purchasing items needed to facilitate training, ensuring availability of documentation forms for data collection and submitting data to the QIDP at the end of each month.
  • Manages implementation of the self-administration of medication program including ensuring all necessary forms are in place and properly completed, ensuring medication is stored properly and medication cabinets are in proper order, advising the RN of medication needs, medical needs, medical forms needed, etc.
  • Ensures appropriate residential staff are scheduled to and attend quarterly and annual IEP/IPP meetings and ensuring appropriate residential staff attend in-service classes as required.
  • Attends Health Care Management Team meeting. Communicating with the COO, QIDP, RN, Principal and other staff as needed to ensure the highest quality services to our residents.
  • Following and ensuring that those supervised follow the policies and procedures of Avondale House.
  • Accompanies residents to routine and emergency doctor's appointments.
  • Monitors required documentation completed by staff to ensure compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD) including autism.
  • Residential Group Home Management experience required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Available for on-call scheduling and available in the event of an emergency.
  • Ability to manage non-compliant and aggressive behaviors according to state and Avondale House policies.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurability required. Will use company vehicle to transport clients and fulfill duties of position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.
