Special Education Teacher

Avondale House is seeking experienced Special Education Teachers to join us in our education program serving students with autism.

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides, educational services to individuals with autism, a day habilitation program for adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities, residential homes for individuals unable to live in their own home, job placement and training, and employment services. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976.

In the Special Education Teacher role, you will implement ABA based IEP's and ABA Behavior Plans within assigned classroom, collaborate with related service providers to implement Functional Communication Training, OT/PT skills, work with an in-house team of Education Specialist, BCBA and Behavior Support to provide a highly structured learning environment for students, participate in quarterly reviews and annual IEP meetings, collect data on behavior and academics, and monitor and engage with students throughout the day.

The perfect fit for this position will hold a TEA SPED EC-12 Certification, a minimum of two years of direct experience, a background that includes working with individuals with various developmental disabilities, especially autism, and excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills.
